Prolon Fasting Mimicking Diet Day 5

Created: 2019-12-03 ; Updated: 2019-12-03

I kept waking up multiple times last night and don’t feel like I slept well. Apple Watch says I only really woke up twice, about 15 minutes each time.

My ketones an hour after getting up are 1.2 mmol/L, or GKI = 4.34, which is down from yesterday, but still well into ketosis.

My weight is down 5 pounds, about one pound per day since the start of the fast. My crude bathroom scale offers an impedance calculation of 10.4% body fat, but I don’t believe it (I’m normally maybe 18 or so)

This morning I still have a regular, large bowel movement. I really don’t understand how this happens on such a minimal diet.

No back pain at all since yesterday. I’m feeling a little tired, but otherwise my mind is sharp.

Evening ketones are 1.7 mmol/L, GKI = 2.52 (“very high level of ketosis”)

Previous evenings I’ve measured ketones three hours after eating the (meager) soup meal, thinking things would have settled down by then. Tonight I tested before eating, and I bet that’s a more accurate reflection of my ketones throughout the day and night.

Final FMD meal

And there it is, I made it! Although the fast felt like it dragged on and on, it was well worth it for the great, healthy feeling I got at the end. It’s like that very relieved feeling when you wake up after a long illness and the body is all cured and ready to go again. Very worthwhile.
